THE PEONY PAVILION

This project will explore the future form of the Chinese opera space and the modes of opera performance. Through questionnaire research, I found that the public has a negative attitude towards the development of Chinese opera, so I wanted to rebrand opera and break the traditional model of opera performance, and in so doing, propose a new format that would explore multiple ways of presenting opera performances while also enriching the theatre-going experience. I chose the classic Chinese opera The Peony Pavilion as the design theme and created a new theme park for this opera. I want to reinvent the opera space as a theme park, which may be subversive and abstract, but it is innovative. I hope that in the future it will attract new audiences and spread the richness of opera culture.
