MYCORRHIZAL

There is no absolute centre. Every so-called center can be at the margin of the other structures. MYCORRHIZAL is a work based on the narrative of the author’s great-grandmother, who was forced to give birth to thirteen children by traditional Chinese values but only a few survived and managed to grow up. MYCORRHIZAL looks into the neglected female feelings and voices in human society and relates such marginality to fungi, which have been overlooked in the history of science for a long time. Meanwhile, this project also reflected on the sexual inequality in the Chinese context through the metaphor of the symbiosis relationship illustration between plant roots and mycelium.
